What do you do on a daily basis?

Upon joining KEYENCE I was firstly tasked to familiarise myself and quickly adapt to the companies culture, learning the organisations cultural rules and being cognisant of not just my colleagues do but how they work this is important since it establishes effective communication and coordination between all parties.

As I continued to progress, I started to contribute more within a team environment in the form of presenting new and fresh ideas which contribute to solving the problem at the time. I am most comfortable with resolving group issues through research and communication this is especially useful when supporting the sales team (SE’s) with applications, as I can combine unique perspectives and create a more effective solution.

How did you learn the technical side of the role?

Due to the fact we may be put in a position whereby we are either troubleshooting or offering some sort of support to the customer and SE, it is vital for us to learn the technical side quickly and efficiently.

How would you describe our working culture?

KEYENCE is a company that looks beyond their own agenda and looks to benefit those around them, which is evident from the fact that, this is a company that will always work to achieve maximum client satisfaction by providing quality services through the use of skilled manpower, quality products and by promoting the highest ethical standards.

KEYENCE long term vision is to become a key player in the country and region by bridging skill gaps through acquisition of knowledge transfer from overseas partners as well as by equipping the company with trained manpower in all products provided.

I place confidence in KEYENCE providing added value to it’s customers and developing people’s skills while doing that.

Physical space is a big part of organisational culture where it can shapes our behaviour, our perception and our interaction. KEYENCE work space instantly made me feel I belonged, the whole organisation lives in a building with multiple offices, whereby I was given my own work space, Laptop, Wi-Fi access and multiple software access to our products . Here was an organisation that shared my values which helped me connect with the employees and feel as part of the team.

In terms of canteen space KEYENCE does have a specific place allocated for staff to eat, this is where the team gathers to share a meal, have a conversation, or simply feel part of a lively environment.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

The Troubleshooting, It is interesting for me to determine why an application isn’t working, I like the niche applications that aren’t straight forward and require figuring out what hadn’t already been done and trying new solutions. At heart I am a collaborator, so there’s nothing better than hypothesizing and devising with colleagues new ideas and solutions to a customer problem.
